Information Publication Scheme The Australian Government's Information Publication Scheme (IPS) started on 1 May 2011. It aims to promote transparency and a proactive approach to publishing. All applications and proposals to change the Food Standards Code, as well as submissions, are published on our website. Public Interest Disclosures The Public Interest Disclosure Act 2013 (PID Act) promotes the integrity and accountability of the Commonwealth public sector by creating a framework for facilitating the reporting of suspected wrongdoing and ensuring timely and effective investigation of reports. APS Census Results 2024 The Australian Public Service (APS) Employee Census is an annual survey that gathers insights into how employees perceive the APS, their specific agency, and their workplace. It helps agencies to identify and target strategies to build and enhance capability in the workplace. The 2024 APS Census results for Food Standards Australia New Zealand can be found at the bottom of this page. We're pleased to report another excellent response to the Census, where we maintained our 91 percent participation rate among staff. We have focused on making FSANZ a great place to work and the results can be seen with improvements across almost all areas over last year. Stakeholder engagement FSANZ proudly works in partnership with government, industry, public health and community stakeholders to keep the food supply safe. What we engage on FSANZ engages with the public and stakeholders to inform and support its work in areas including:
- applications and proposals to change the Food Standards Code
- public health and food policy
- monitoring activities such as surveys of pesticide residues or chemicals in food
- food recalls and incidents
- consumer and food safety research
- imported food matters
- international food safety matters

What we do Food Standards Australia New Zealand is the central scientific agency in the bi-national safe food system. Food Allergy and Intolerance Scientific Advisory Group The Food Allergy and Intolerance Scientific Advisory Group (FAISAG) was established to assist FSANZ in managing allergens in food. The FAISAG provides expert advice to FSANZ on a range of matters related to food allergy and intolerance, which FSANZ uses to assess and manage risk to allergic consumers.
