External Peer Review of FSANZ Risk Assessment Practices and Procedures

In 2011, an external peer review of our scientific risk assessment processes was undertaken by Dr Angelika Tritscher (WHO). The review compared our risk assessment approach against international best practice.

Key findings

The overall findings of the review were positive, describing FSANZ's risk assessment procedures as following a 'clear and structured process in line with international recommendations'.

While no significant gaps in FSANZ's risk assessment practices and procedures were identified, suggestions were made to enhance and further refine existing processes.

Recommendations

Of the 15 recommendations made in the review, the majority have been addressed either directly or through other processes implemented since the review in 2011.
