To permit the use of the enzyme alpha-amylase from Bacillus licheniformis (containing the gene for alpha-amylase from the gene variant ANZ105) as a processing aid in starch processing, to produce starch hydrolysates, and the production of potable alcohol.

A1292 - Phospholipase C from Bacillus licheniformis as a processing aid

On 10 December 2025, the FSANZ Board approved changes to the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code to permit phospholipase C from genetically modified Bacillus licheniformis as a processing aid in degumming of fats and oils.


Consultation and assessment

FSANZ released the public call for submissions in July 2025. Feedback from this consultation, along with our scientific assessment informed our final decision.
