P1044 - Plain English Allergen Labelling New requirements for the labelling of allergens in food come into force on 25 February 2024. These requirements were developed through FSANZ Proposal P1044 – Plain English Allergen Labelling. The new requirements include that allergen information is to be declared:
- in a specific format and location on food labels, and
- using simple, plain English terms in bold font.

P1050 - Pregnancy warning labels on alcoholic beverages July 2020 The Australian and New Zealand governments advise women not to consume alcohol during pregnancy. On 17 July 2020, Minister's responsible for food regulation (the Forum) accepted a proposed draft standard for pregnancy warning labels. In making its decision, the Forum confirmed its ongoing commitment to mandatory pregnancy warning labels on alcohol to ensure women are appropriately informed about the advice to not consume alcohol while pregnant. P1054 - Pure and highly concentrated caffeine products Urgent Proposal P1054 was prepared to amend the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code to prohibit the retail sale of pure and highly concentrated caffeine food products. FSANZ prepared the Proposal as an emergency interim response under its urgent legislative provisions following its review and report to Australian Government Ministers in August 2019. The Ministerial Report and the Initial Consideration Report found pure and highly concentrated caffeine food products posed an immediate and acute risk to consumers. FSANZ has approved the prohibition of the retail sale of foods in which total caffeine is present in a concentration of 5% or more (if the food is a solid or semi-solid food) or 1% or more (if the food is a liquid food).
